A mountainous sub-region in the Central Washington Cascades, bounded by Skykomish River (US-2), Deception Creek, Marmot Lake, Foss Lakes, Middle Fork Snoqualmie River, Taylor River, and Miller River. The central area is drained by the Foss River. Notable landforms include Cascade Mountain, Malachite Peak, Tonga Ridge, Bald Eagle Peak, Iron Cap Mountain, Big Snow Mountain, and Mt. Garfield.
