Full Trip Report
I did a nice ski tour up Sobieski Mtn with Steve, Suzanne, Janet, Todd, Eileen, Fay, and Mike T. We all skied 6 miles up the Sobieski Mountain Road to Maloney Gap, at which point Fay and Mike headed off to the crest of Maloney Ridge
From Maloney Gap, the rest of us skied up Maloney Knoll for lunch. Afterwards, we returned to the gap, then skied up Sobieski Mountain’s south ridge, over the summit, and down the wooded north ridge. Upon reaching the Sobieski Mountain Road hairpin, we followed our ski tracks down to the starting point. Somehow, we managed to turn this innocuous loop into a micro-epic, complete with a headlamp finish. Full loop time: 10.4 hours.
Fay and Mike’s whereabouts were still unknown at 8:00pm. No doubt, they were working on a mini-epic of their own.
