Full Trip Report
I completed a very nice ski tour in the Blewett Pass area with Barry, Carol, David A, George, Jacquie, Jim P, Jorie, Karen T, Mark H, and Sue E. We had decent weather, good snow, and great enthusiasm for this wonderfully varied loop through pines, larches, glades, and basalt outcrops.
Starting from the Blewett Pass Sno-Park, we ascended through Swauk Meadows, under Diamond Head, up Windy Hollow, and over to Tronsen Head. Even a notable prevalence of climbing-skin failures (all repaired by the handyman’s secret weapons: duct tape and hope) couldn’t keep our group from reaching the 5980-foot summit.
- Skinning toward Windy Gap
- Group on Tronsen Head
From the summit, we headed toward Haney Gap and then descended below some picturesque basalt cliffs. Everyone squeezed as many turns as possible from the mostly powdery snow, during which time Mark and Karen gave the rest of us a mini Tele-clinic.
- Karen Skiing Upper Glade
- .Jacquie Skiing Lower Glade
- Mark Skiing Upper Glade
