For Eileen’s first post-injury backpacking trip, we hiked up to Rampart Lakes and spent two nights camped on a flat rock between two of the lakes.

During our middle day, we followed the well-beaten climber’s path up Alta Mountain, which anchors the northern end of the Keechelus Mountains and provides a good view of the nearby Snoqualmie Mountains.

All in all, we had hot weather, good views, inviting lakes, and annoying insects. It must be August in the Cascades!
